Trading Reins

photo(44)I had a great time this morning working with local hunter/jumper trainer Stephen Pellett.  Stephen is embarking on quite an adventure this weekend.  He is participating in a charity event dubbed “Trading Reins”  in which jumper trainers are being paired with reining trainers.  But here’s the catch: the jumping trainers need to ride a reining horse, and the reining trainers need to ride a jumping horse.  The championship goes to the highest combined score of the two runs.  All of this takes place at the huge Reining By the Bay in Woodside at 5:00 on Saturday.  If you would like to see a live feed of this event, go to the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) website at that time.

Stephen was a quick study.  He was putting Chase through his paces in no time.  Not only that, he was dressed the part.  See that gorgeous silver buckle?  That’s thanks to Tony Ferrasci, who won it last week in the team sorting at the Salinas Rodeo.  We’re sending this guy to Woodside with all the right good luck charms and all the proper preparations.  Go get ’em, Stephen!
