As winter approaches and the cows go back to their ranch, I am planning on adding footing to the Carmel River Ranch arena. I can’t seem to afford footing and cow hay at the same time, so there will be a little delay. However, I plan to use the same sand that’s at the Trail and Saddle Club. This should work well with our flag, and (I hope) hold up to winter rains.
On Saturday, November 23, I am planning a fun day of games to help defray the cost of the footing. Here are a few of them to whet your appetite: lope-over contest, dummy roping contest, ground tie contest, flag-working contest, lead change extravaganza…….just to mention a few. The day will begin with some specific instruction on difficult trail obstacles. So put this fun day on your calendar, tell all your friends, and let’s get some lovely new sand! Details to follow.
