Cow Palace!

Friday marked what will be the final AQHA versatility of the year. The previous photos are from that day, as are these photos of Kelly and her amazing Yellow. We drove up to San Francisco on Thursday and kept our horses overnight. I took Malia Aldrich with me because I knew that showing two horses would be hard without help. Malia and I stayed at Janet McGarvey’s house and ate at my favorite Thai restaurant. Thanks, Janny!

The show started with an hour of steady rain, which tapered off throughout the day. But the footing stayed good, and so did my horses. It was an interesting experience showing Jack in what might be his final versatility with me in the saddle…..and showing Chase in his first! What an interesting transition day. Both horses were good, finishing in the middle of the pack of very strong riders. I was relieved that Chase was solid in the trail class. I didn’t do as well in the cattle classes as I have been this summer, but the mistakes were mostly mine. I am blessed with such wonderful horses. There is more to come from both of them.

Malia was “on it” all day. She knew what I needed before I knew it! I never felt rushed or stressed as I worked both horses through their demanding days. We even found our way through the city in the dark….no problem. Thanks, Malia!

Kelly showed well, especially in the trail class, where she won the amateur division and was second overall. That’s tough to accomplish in that group. All in all, it was a wonderful trip, and a good way to wrap up an excellent show season. On to next year!
